Before Para sports, she was deeply involved in non-Para hockey, representing Wales until age 21. "Hockey was my main sport," she said. However, balancing a career in hockey proved difficult without full-time support.
Her most memorable achievement came at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, where she won gold in the women's KL3 event. This victory solidified her status as a top athlete in Para canoeing.
In recognition of her contributions to sports, she was named Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 New Year Honours list.
She holds degrees in Exercise Science and Sports Science from the University of Leeds, England. Additionally, she completed a postgraduate diploma in physical education at the University of Birmingham.
Apart from competing, she serves as an ambassador for the Mintridge Foundation, a British charity supporting young people's mental and physical wellbeing. She also coaches in schools, finding it re-energising and beneficial for maintaining balance.
