Marcos Dennis Blanco Biography

In 2013, while battling depression after losing his vision, he was taken to a gym by his cousin. There, he discovered judo and was encouraged by a coach to give it a try. This marked the beginning of his journey in the sport.

Debut and Training

He made his debut for Venezuela in 2014 at the World Championships in Colorado Springs, CO, United States. Since then, he has dedicated himself to rigorous training. He trains four hours per day in two sessions to maintain peak performance levels.

Memorable Moments

One of his most memorable moments was competing at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. This experience has been a significant highlight in his career and has motivated him to aim higher.

Awards and Recognition

In 2021, he received the Francisco de Miranda Order, Official Third Grade, from the government of Venezuela. This prestigious award recognises his contributions and achievements in judo.

Additionally, he and Para athlete Naibys Morillo were named Venezuela's flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Parapan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
