He debuted in triathlon for Germany in 2012. His career highlights include representing Germany in Para swimming at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. By 2016, he had secured his place in history with his gold medal win in Rio.

He continued his success by winning another gold medal at the 2020 Paralympic Games. This achievement places him among an elite group of three Para triathletes, including Jetze Plat from the Netherlands and Allysa Seely from the USA, who have won two gold medals in their respective classes.
