Mateus Evangelista Cardoso Biography

Before dedicating himself to athletics, he explored other sports. He played seven-a-side football as a goalkeeper for Brazil at the 2009 Youth Parapan American Games in Bogota, Colombia. He also tried his hand at football and archery but ultimately chose athletics. "What I like to do is run and jump. I did not pick athletics, athletics picked me," he said.

Injuries and Recovery

In September 2015, he faced a significant setback when he fractured the femur in his left leg. This injury required surgery and kept him out of competition for eight months. Despite this challenge, he made a strong comeback to continue his athletic career.

Personal Life

He balances his athletic career with family life. He is married to Jessica and has a son named Lucca. His personal hero is Brazilian Formula One driver Ayrton Senna, who has been a source of inspiration for him.
