Matthias Schindler Biography

Matze faced several injuries early in his career. In 2017, he broke his foot and required six months to recover. Two years later, he suffered a torn ligament in his ankle, sidelining him for three months. Despite these setbacks, Matze's determination remained unwavering.

His hard work paid off at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, where he won bronze in the C3 time trial. This achievement stands out as one of his most memorable moments. In recognition of his contributions to sports, he received the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt (Silver Laurel Leaf) in 2021, Germany's highest sports award.

Training and Personal Life

Matze trains rigorously, dedicating between 15 and 30 hours each week to his sport. His training regimen is complemented by a consistent pre-race ritual: eating the same breakfast before every race. He believes that "success is the result of hard work," a philosophy that has guided him throughout his career.

Outside of sports, Matze enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies include travel, hiking, reading, cooking, and coffee. He speaks both English and German fluently and holds a degree in Nutrition. Matze is married to Siw and they have one daughter.
