16-Member archery team announced for Asian Archery champ
Jamshedpur, Aug 19 (UNI) Archery Associaton of India (AAI) today announced a 16-member archery squad (Recurve and Compopund events) for men's and women's categories for the Asian Archery Championship to be held at Xian, China, from September 14 to 19.
Senior vice-president AAI Paresh Mukherjee said the team was picked up from the performace of the archers, who participated in the 4th Tata Steel Natioinal Archery Championship, which ended here today.
Mr Mukherjee said all the top archers from both the recurve and the compound events performed well and maintained their good form. He said former world No 4 Jayanta Talukdar, who was struggling in recent time, had improved his performance in this meet and was placed third in the men's recurve event.
He said all the first four performers from both the men's and women's sections of recurve and the compound events were selected for the Asian meet.
Following is the team: Men's Recurve : Rahul Banerjee, Mangal Singh, Jayanta Talukdar, A Raju.
Women's Recurve: Dola Banerjee, Chakervalu Swuro, Bombayla Devi and Punya Prabha.
Men's Compound : Isiah R Sunam, L Hari Das, Ratan Kumar and Paltan Hansda.
Women's Compound : Jhanu Hansda, Bhegyabati Chanu, Manjudha Soy and Asrita Kerketta.
