Weightlifter loses medal after failing drug test

Sydney: Bulgarian weightlifter Ivan Ivanov will be stripped of his Olympic 56kg silver medal after a positive diuretic drug test, IOC vice-president Kevan Gosper said on Wednesday.

Ivanov was one of two athletes to return positive drug tests since the Sydney Games opened on September 15.

The other athlete was hammer-thrower Vadim Devyatovsky from Belarus who tested positive for nandrolone in an out-of-competition test in the Olympic village.
