Sydney: India's Pramila G Ganapathy and Soma Biswas 23rd and 25th after four events on the first day of the Olympic heptathlon tournament on Saturday.
Pramila got 3,308 points, which is 595 points behind the leader Natalya Sazanovich of Belarus who has 3,903 points, while Soma earned 3,287 points.
Pramila and Soma Biswas, in fact, were placed 26th and 27th respectively in a pack of 30 athletes after three events.
After the 100m hurdles, high jump and shotput rounds of the seven-events, Pramila earned 2,393 points while soma got 2,375. Natalya Sazanovich (Belarus) led with 2,934 points, Denise Lewis (Britain) with 2,904 and Sabine Braun (Germany) 2,859 followed.
Soma hurled the shotput to a distance of 11.69m and Pramila 11.14 tocome 10th and 14th in Group 2. Pramila had 1,789 points and Soma 1,734 after two events and stood 23rd and 28th respectively.
Soma (14.11 seconds) and Pramila (14.22 seconds) came in second and third in heat 2 of the first event (100m hurdles), collecting 963 and 947 points respectively after that stage.
In the high jump event, Pramila cleared 1.69m and soma 1.63m to be positioned eight and 14th in Group 2.
