New York: The Sydney Olympics are proving to be a hit with sports surfers as traffic on the event's official website soared last week, according to the latest data from Internet tracking service Nielsen/NetRatings.
Traffic on the official web site (http://www.olympics.com) rose more than 380 per cent for the week ended September 17 to 562,000 unique visitors, many of them attracted by the beginning of the Games, the audience measurement service said.
This builds on the previous week's growth of 115 per cent in traffic before the Games began. Men and women visited Olympics.com equally, with male Internet users making up nearly 51 percent of visitors, while female Internet users made up 49 per cent of the total audience traffic.
