Sydney: Romanian gymnast Andreea Raducan has lost her appeal against being stripped of the Olympic gold medal she won last week in the all-round competition.
The decision was announced on Thursday by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) which heard her appeal on Wednesday.
Raducan, who will be 17 on Saturday, tested positive for pseudo-ephedrine contained in a cold cure taken on the advice of the Romanian team doctor who has been expelled from the Games and banned from the next two Olympics.
Matthieu Reeb, CAS acting secretary-general, said, "The panel decided today to dismiss the appeal filed by Andreaa Raducan."
