Indian men fail to qualify for 4 x 400 relay

By Super

Sydney: India failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the 4 x 400m men's relay race after finishing fourth in the heats at the Olympics on Friday.

India's Lijo David Thottan, Jata Shankar, P Ramachandran and Paramjit Singh clocked 3:08.38, which was not good enough for a place in the semi-finals.

Sri lanka (3:06.25) came first, Kenya (3:06.77) second, followed by Ireland (3:07.42) in the second heat.

Sixteen teams - the first two from each of the five heats and the next six fastest made it to the semi-finals, which would be held later on Thursday.
