Women’s 4 x 400m team fails to qualify

By Super

Sydney: India's last ray of hope also went crashing with the dismal performance of the 4 x 400 metres women's relay team in the qualifiers at the Sydney Olympics on Thursday.

The women's 4 x 400m team - Paramjit Kaur, Jincy Phillip, Rosa Kutty and K M Beenamol - timed 3:31.46 to finish second last in the heat. The race was anchored by Beenamol, the only runner who salvaged some pride for the country's athletes by making it to the semi-finals of the 400 metres.

The Indian women had earlier failed to qualify for the 4 x 100 metres semi-final also.
