Sydney: German H Dreschsler put a spoke in Marion Jones' attempt for a record-breaking five gold medals in a single Olympic Games by winning the women's long jump event at Stadium Australia on Friday.
Jones, who has already got a sprint double by winning the women's 100 and 200 metres with ease, was hoping to add the long jump gold to her kitty. Jones will also figure in both the US relay teams where she expects to get two more gold medals.
The German cleared 6.99 metres in her third attempt; .51 metres up from her first attempt distance of 6.48 metres. Jones tied with Italian May F on 6.92 metres, but was relegated to the third spot.
