Coimbatore, Sep 22: The cream of dragsters in the country will vie for top honours in the second leg of the two day FMSCI Indian National Drag Racing Championship on September 24 and 25.
Rajasekhar Prabhu, who won the inaugural event, leads the Indian Open INDRC in cars, while Kaleem Pasha is the champion in both in Indian open and Foreign Class for two wheelers, a release from the organisers, Spitfire Motorsports, said today.
Entries have been restricted to about 200, so that all participants can be accommodated on a single day at Kare Speedway on the outskirts of the city.
Drag racing is a straight 400 metre run of two cars or bikes alongside each other. A special starting light system shows an amber light which then turns to green,a signal for drivers to speed away.
Timings are recorded as soon as vehicles crosses the 400 metre mark. The system also records the reaction time of drivers. In case of a tie, the driver with lower reaction time is placed ahead, the release said.
