3 BRD Inter Group Sports Meet concludes

Chandigarh, Aug 29 (UNI) The Inter Group Sports Meet of 3 Base Repair Depot (3 BRD) and Air Force, which began in the month of April this year, concluded here last evening.

During the entire period of the sports meet, Depot personnel took part in various disciplines such as volleyball, football, cricket, basketball and shooting with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship putting their best sports skills to keep their respective group at the top.

In the sports meet, the Championship Trophy for overall performance was awarded to Planning Group.

The Planning Group bagged first position in football and basketball, while the Engine Group was first in cricket and shooting. Administration Group clinched first place in volleyball.

In a tug of war on the final day, Planning Group defeated Engine Group. The athletes of Engine Group bagged the title in 4x100 mtr relay race. In individual event of one mile run Cpt DP Singh of Planning Group was the winner.

In his closing address, Air Commodore RK Srivastava, Air Officer Commanding (AOC), 3 BRD lauded the efforts of all participants and appreciated their sportsmanship and enthusiasm.

On the occasion, the AOC said that sports is an integral part of the life of armed forces personnel which not only encourages the team spirit and healthy competition to prove the best but also strengthens discipline and mutual cooperation among the personnel.

He put on record the great contribution of unit level sports in providing the best sportsman to Air Force team and finally to Services team.
