300 players to participate in AIKF Sr Nationals
Mumbai, July 23 (UNI) Over 300 senior karate players from 20 States and government institutions will be seen in action in the 20th All India Karate-Do Federation National Karate Championships, which will be held at the Andheri Sports Complex, here, from July 23.
The All India Karate-Do Federation, Mumbai is the only body recognized by the Government of India and the Indian Olympic Association to control and promote the sport of Karate in India. The All India Karate-Do Federation is a member of the World Karate Federation (WKF). AIKF is the founder member of the Asian Karate-Do Federation (AKF) and Mr Burge Cooper, the AIKF President is also the Vice-President of AKF, a release here today said.
The Karatekas will represent States, government/semi-government bodies and Paramilitary forces in the forthcoming Nationals. This event will be conducted by AIKF's internationally qualified AKF and WKF Referees and Judges. This event will also be the selection trials to select the Indian Team to participate in the Asian Senior Karate Ch ampionships to be held in Malaysia in August 2007.
Eliminations and Repechage will held from 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs and the finals and prize distribution of the days events will be from 1700 hrs to 1900 hrs on July 26 to 28.
