Netherlands win back-to-back hockey gold

By Super

Sydney: Luck Favoured Holland again as they stroked out spirited Korea 8-7 in penalty shootout to retain the Olympic hockey gold medal on Saturday.

Holland had beaten Australia 5-4 in the penalty shootout to make it to the final and repeated the same performance again to retain the Olympic hockey gold.

Skipper Stephen Veen playing in his 265th international match, spearheaded Holland's attack with a superb hat-trick. Both the teams were level 3-3 after the regulation period and could not score in the 15 minute extra time.

This was the first time that the Olympic hockey final was decided via a tie-breaker.
