By Pti

New Delhi, Feb 25 (PTI) Teen brigade of Vani Kapoor,Gauri Monga, Aditi Ashok and Mehar Atwal will represent Indiain the 33rd Queen Sirikit Golf Cup to be held at the DelhiGolf Club here from March 9.

Rita Punwawni, chairperson of Indian Golf Union (IGU)ladies section, will shoulder the responsibility of captainingthe unit.

"They have a bright chance and hopefully they will betterthe best ever Indian performance at the tournament," she said.

The best ever show for India was way back in 1986 whenthe trio of Nonita Lall Qureshi, Shiraz Shaheed and RanjitGrewal finished fourth at the same venue.

Qureshi, who has represented the country in previous 15editions, will be the coach of the team for the upcomingevent.

She was skeptical about the team''s chances of betteringthe previous record but hoped home conditions would work inits favour.

"Realistically it will be tough. The average score ofteam finishing fourth over the years in the tournament hasbeen around par 72," Qureshi emphasised.

"Aditi Ashok is a young little talent but she is stillraw, she needs to pull up her socks. But if on the given dayshe scores, with Vani and Gauri there we can expect a betterresult."

Talking to the reporters on the occasion, Vani said theteam has been preparing hard from the tournament.

"We would do well in this tournament. We know the coursehere very well which will hopefully work in our favour," shesaid.

When asked what differentiates India from itscompetitors, the 16-year-old said, "The amount of hard workwhich we put into the game. The Indians are reallyhardworking."

She however said that the defending champions -- Korea --will be a tough nut to crack.

The tournament, that will return to India after a gap ofmore than a decade with the 1998 edition, will witness 14teams from across the world vying for the coveted trophy. PTISNK PM
