Today marks the commencement of the 38th National Games 2025 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, where the Haryana Men's Rugby Team, reigning champions and a powerhouse in Indian rugby, has unveiled its 12-member squad. The team is geared up to defend its title, leveraging its winning streak from the past eight Senior National Championships.
Under the guidance of the Indian Rugby Football Union and observed by the Haryana Olympic Association, the squad's selection reflects a strategic mix of seasoned international players and emerging talent.

The team is poised to initiate its quest for glory against the host state Uttarakhand at the Maharana Pratap Sports Complex in Dehradun. Positioned in Pool A, Haryana will subsequently compete against Maharashtra and Kerala in the group stages, aspiring to advance to the knockout phases. The team's campaign is intricately planned to maintain its dominance in the rugby arena, showcasing its prowess against the top contenders from across the nation.
The leadership baton for Haryana is held by Deepak Punia, the esteemed captain of India's Rugby 15s team, signaling a high degree of expertise and leadership driving the team forward. The squad also features Mohit Khatri, who captains India's Rugby 7s team, and the experienced Vikas Khatri and Prince Khatri, both former captains of the national team.
