46th edition of Mumbai-Pune cycle race on March 18
Mumbai, Mar 13 (UNI) Top cyclists from all over the country will take part in the 46th Mumbai-Pune cycle race to be flagged off from the Mayor's bungalow here on March 18.
Announcing the launch of the 46th edition of this gruelling test of endurance and skill, the sponsors TI Cycles of India stated that the race will have a total of prize money of Rs 1,25,000, the highest in the history of the race.
Covering a total of 154 kms, the race trail would be Chunabhatti - Vashi - Panvel - Khopoli - Bor Ghats - Khandala - Lonavala - Kamshet - Vadgaon - Dehu Road - Nigdi - Chinchwad - Pimpri - Khadki before finishing at Wakdewadi. The zone from Dadar to Chunabhatti would be a neutral zone, it was announced on the occasion.
There would be a total of 22 different awards up for grabs including the King of Ghats, Most Promising Talent and prizes for the three Primes. The champion of the race would get an additional amount of Rs 25,000 apart from the first prize amount of Rs 17,000 if he betters the race record time of 4 hours 13 minutes and 14 seconds.
The different awards in the race are for the three Prime zone i.e Panvel, Khopoli and Kamshet where the three in each zone who come in with the best titles are given prizes.
The King of Ghats wherein the winner of the 7 km stretch of Bhor Ghats is crowned with the title. There are 5 additional awards for best timings in this category, and one for the Promising New Talent award, who will be selected from amongst the participants, it was announced at the conference.
Mr Pamprasad, President TI Cycles of India and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satish Mathur were present on the occasion.
