The Philadelphia 76ers recently announced that Joel Embiid missed their win against the Brooklyn Nets due to a knee injury. The star centre will also be absent from the upcoming game against the Los Angeles Clippers. Despite Embiid's absence, Philadelphia managed to break a five-game losing streak with a 113-98 victory at Wells Fargo Center.
Initially, Embiid was not listed on the team's injury report. However, he was later added for left knee injury management, being ruled out just 30 minutes before the game started. Coach Nick Nurse explained that Embiid experienced swelling in his knee and was unable to play.

Nurse mentioned that they were aware of the potential for swelling issues this season. "They do what they can do to remove that swelling, but it just didn't feel good enough to go," he stated. The team plans to treat Embiid's knee over the weekend, hoping for an update on Monday regarding his condition.
In Embiid's absence, rookie guard Jared McCain delivered an outstanding performance by scoring 30 points. This marked his seventh consecutive game surpassing 20 points. During the final quarter, McCain confidently declared, "I'm rookie of the year!" after making one of his six three-pointers.
McCain later confirmed his statement, saying, "I did say that. It was pretty clear." He acknowledged it as a personal goal for the season while expressing respect for other rookies in the league. However, he emphasised his belief in himself and his abilities.
The team assessed Embiid's condition during and after the game and decided on treatment throughout the weekend. They aim to have him ready soon and will provide updates on Monday about his recovery progress.
