94-year-old to participate in half marathon

Jalandhar Feb 18 (UNI) Baba Fauja Singh, a 94-year-old with several marathon world record under his belt, will participate in the CT Half Marathon to be held here on February 25.

Baba Fauja Singh, whose name was mentioned in the Guiness Book of world records as world's oldest and fastest 90 plus marathoner and also Adidas brand ambassador, will participate in the celebrity run-for-a-cause, along with other renowned personalities.

''The CT half marathon will cover the distance of 21.0397 km from CT Institution's Shahpura campus to CT Institutions Masqsudan Campus. The half-marathon is being organised by CT Group of institutions for charity.

The winners of this race will get cash prizes along with certificates. Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 will be given to the first, second and third position holders respectively for different male and female categories.

The next 12 position holders will get a cash prize of Rs 1,000 while every participant will get cerficiate and a T-shirt.

''There will be proper arrangemtns for energy drinks, water and rest shelters on the whole route,'' CT Education society chairman, Charanjit Singh Channi said here.
