Jalen Brunson Acknowledges Room For Improvement Following Knicks' Victory Over Suns

After returning from injury, Jalen Brunson scored 15 points in the Knicks' win against the Suns. He noted there is significant room for improvement in his performance.

Jalen Brunson acknowledged the need for improvement after returning from an ankle injury in the New York Knicks' 112-98 win over the Phoenix Suns at Madison Square Garden. After a month-long absence, Brunson played 34 minutes, scoring 15 points and providing six assists. Despite some missed shots, he hit a crucial three-pointer with two minutes left, extending the lead to 10 points.

The Knicks' star averages 26.3 points and 7.4 assists per game this season. He praised his teammate OG Anunoby's performance during his absence. "I don't want to say [my injury] was a silver lining, but whenever someone goes out, it's a collective team effort, and everyone steps up," said Brunson. Anunoby has averaged 24 points since Brunson's injury and was perfect from the floor in the third quarter against the Suns.

Brunson Sees Need for Improvement After Return

Despite not being at his peak, Brunson displayed his passing skills with several sharp assists throughout the match. Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau commented on Brunson's return: "Usually what happens when a player comes back is he needs to get a feel, and usually there's a play or two where he'll be tested a little bit. And then once he realises he's good, he takes off."

The Knicks are nearing the third seed in the Eastern Conference with four regular-season games left. They need one more win or an Indiana Pacers loss to secure their play-off spot. The franchise last reached the NBA Finals in 1999 and hasn't won a championship since 1973.

Anunoby's contribution has been significant in maintaining the team's momentum during Brunson's absence. His performance highlights how team efforts can compensate for missing key players.

Brunson's return is timely as the Knicks aim for success in upcoming games. His leadership and clutch performances will be crucial as they push towards securing their play-off position.
