A pool of 20 players for Bangla tour to be selected: Vengsarkar

Mumbai, Apr 13 (UNI) Chairman of the selection committee Dilip Vengsarkar today said around 20 players would be chosen for both the Test and ODI teams here on April 20 for Team India's tour of Bangladesh next month.

''We will select around 20 players in all,'' the former Test captain said here.

''We are looking at a pool of around 20 playerrs. I can not say anything more,'' Vengsarkar said after his meeting with the BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah yesterday.

The duo decided at the meeting that a combined preparatory camp for the selected players would be conducted at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata from May 2 to 6.

''The one-day team would first leave for Bangladesh and then the players chosen (and not part of the ODI team) for the Tests would depart at the end of the ODI series,'' Shah emphasised.

''What will they all do together in Bangladesh,'' Shah countered when asked whether there was a move to send all the players chosen for the tour together on May 7.

The three ODIs, to be held on May 10, 12 and 15, precede the two-Test series which will be held from May 18-29.
