Achievements of young Girish Koushik

Bangalore, May 23: He is defending World Chess Champion in U-10 category. He also won U-8 Asian chess championships held at New Delhi in 2005. He has won hordes of National, State and district level competitions. He is a FIDE Master with a rating of 2073 and wants to scale new heights in the sport. He wants to become youngest ever GM. Thats Girish Koushik, a nine and half year old chess prodigy, for you.

Girish, a fifth standard student of St Thomas in Mysore, is being trained by his father Arun Koushik who gave up his business to devote his time and money to his protege

Girish Koushik's achievements:

  • World Youth C'ships-06 at Batumi, Georgia Champion (U-10)

  • Asian Chess C'ships-05 at New Delhi Champion (U-8)

  • National Open-04 at Sangli Champion (U-9)

  • National Open-04 at Sangli Champion (U-8)

  • Karnataka State Open-07 at Mangalore 5th place (Seniors)

  • Karnataka State Open-05 at Mysore Champion (U-9)

  • Karnataka State Open-04 at Shimogga Champion (U-7)

  • Nationals Chess C'ships-06 at Bhiwani 7th place (U-13)

  • Nationals-04 at Chennai 6th place (U-9)

  • FIDE International-04 at Cochin Best Player (U-8)

  • FIDE International-04 at Ernakulam Best Player (U-8)

  • FIDE International-04 at Chennai Best Player (U-8)

  • Karnataka State Open-07 at B'lore 8th place (Seniors)

Besides National and State meets, Girish also have won hordes of FIDE rated events in various age groups.
