Aditya Wins Gold At World Boxing U-19 Championships; Megha Sheokand Bags Silver
Aditya clinched gold in the men's 55kg category at the 2026 World Boxing U-19 Championships in Budva, Montenegro, as India finished the competition with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
The Asian U-19 silver medallist staged an impressive comeback to defeat Russia's Islam Magomedov 4-1 in Tuesday's final, recovering after narrowly losing the opening round.

"I was trailing 3-2 after the first round, but I stepped it up to take the next one 4-1. That's when the belief hit me that I could win this bout. I'm truly grateful to all the coaches and my teammates here at the World Championships in Montenegro-their support throughout the camp made all the difference," said Aditya in his first reaction after the victory.
Aditya entered the title bout after defeating Azerbaijan's Nihat Gasimov 5-0 in the semifinals. He had also beaten Italy's Tommaso Orlando by a unanimous decision in the quarterfinals to secure a medal.
India's hopes of winning a second gold were dashed when Megha Sheokand lost 0-5 to Russia's Ekaterina Frolova in the women's 80kg final.
Megha had reached the final with a dominant semifinal performance against Kyrgyzstan's Meerim Chynybekova, winning by a referee-stopped contest after her opponent received multiple counts.
India's two bronze medals came through Harshika in the women's 65kg category and Prachi Tokas in the women's 80+kg division.
The championships, held from October 16 to 27, brought together under-19 boxers from around the world across 20 weight categories.
