Arshad Nadeem, Paris Olympics 2024 gold-medalist in javelin throw event, received a cash prize of Rs 10 crore and a car with 92.97 number plate from Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday. Notably, the 27-year-old made a throw of 92.97 metres to seal the gold medal and an Olympics record in Paris last week.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz handed Nadeem the cash prize and the car keys when she visited Nadeem's village in Mian Channu to meet him and his family. "Arshad deserves everything he gets because he has brought so much joy and pride to the nation," she said.

The deputy commissioner, who accompanied Maryam Nawaz, said that the cheque and car were all prepared in record time on the instructions of the CM who wanted to meet Nadeem.
"She gave orders for the special number plate as well," he said. The CM also gave away a cheque of 50 lakh rupees to Nadeem's coach Salman Iqbal Butt before flying back to Lahore.
Earlier, Arshad Nadeem's father-in-law gifted him a buffalo which is considered 'very valuable' and 'honourable' in their village. The ace javelin thrower was also presented with Suzuki Alto by a Pakistani-American businessman.
Further, Nadeem has also been awarded a cash prize of PKR 150 million (more than INR 4.5 crore) by Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif.
Punjab governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has announced a further PKR 2 million reward. The Chief Minister and governor of Sindh announced an award of PKR 50 million, and PKR 1 million respectively.
Pakistani singer Ali Zafar and cricketer Ahmad Shahzad also showered PKR 1 million each on Nadeem, who became the first track and field athlete from Pakistan to clinch an Olympic gold medal.
