Aircel Volleyball tourney begins on August 20

Chennai, Aug 18 (UNI) Eight teams in the men's and four in the women's section will vie for honours in the 17th Aircel-Annual Volleyball tournament to be held here from August 20 to 25.

Vollys club, one of the leading clubs in the city, will be organising the tournament.

Talking to newspersons last night, Vollys Club Secretary M Nirmal Kumar said eight teams in the men's would be divided into two groups. The top two from each group would enter the knock-out semi-finals.

In the women's group, matches would be of round robin league and the team with maximum wins would bag the title.

While the men's team winner would be presented the ''Vasanth'' Trophy, the women's winner would get ''Sakthi Arrkay'' trophy.

Men: Group A: Indian Bank, City Police, SBI, Armed Police.

Group B: SDAT, TNEB, Southern Railway, Central Excise.

Women: SDATY, GKM Volleyball club, Armed Police, SRM.
