All-India final for boys and girls' doubles in TT

Pune, Oct 15 (UNI) In an all-India doubles final, the duo of Neha Aggarwal and Soumi Mondal will face local girls Divya Deshpande and Pooja Sahasrabudhe after the two pairs stormed into the finals of the girls' doubles event of the table tennis competition at the Commonwealth Youth Games here this evening.

In the doubles event of the boys' section too, it will be an all-India final with Soumyajit Ghosh and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran to lock horns with Raj Mondal and Shubham Sharma.

Neha and Soumi, who have also reached the semi-finals in the girls' singles, were down by a game but their experience and expertise were good enough to overpower their English rivals Natalie Slater and Karina Le Fevre 3-1 (9-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-9).

Meanwhile, the other Indian pair in the girls section, Divya and Pooja came back from the brink of defeat to stun their Singaporean opponents 3-2 (8-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-8).

In the first semi-final game, Neha and Soumi were put straight on the backfoot and were down by a game in the very first game.

However, the two girls soon found themselves in the groove and looked to have settled down and were firing on all cylinders even though their English rivals were breathing down their throat.

In the boys doubles, Soumyajit and Sathiyan also kept their cool and then pressed the accelerator to book a summit clash with Raj Mondal and Shubham Sharma.

Soumyajit and Sathiyan beat the Canadian duo of Kun Ling Yang and Qiang Shen 3-1 (9-11, 11-8, 12-10, 11-4), while Raj and Shubham dumped Liam Benjamin and Gavin Thomas of England 3-1 (11-8, 16-14, 4-11, 11-2).
