All India Karate tournament from Dec 22

Kannur, Dec 18 (UNI) More than 500 karatekas are expected to participate in an All India knock out open Karate tournament to be held at Payyanur near here from December 22.

Talking to newspersons here today, Organising Chairman T V Ajayakumar said for the first time competitions in all martial arts like Kung-fu, Taekwlondo, Kick boxing and Kalari would feature in the tournament.

General Convenor of the tourney Shihan Mohammed Iqbal said a general rule was applied for the different styles of karate under five categories (up to 50, 60, 70, 80, and above 80 kg weights).

The participants will be from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Bihar, Orissa and Kerala.

The winners would be selected for the open tournament held in Japan, Australia and UAE.
