New Delhi, Nov 14: Rising javelin thrower Sachin Yadav has been impressive this season. Today, at the ongoing 73rd All India Police Athletics Championships in New Delhi, he won the gold medal with a best throw of 84.21m, which is also his personal best.
Representing Uttar Pradesh Police, Sachin set a new meet record and achieved a personal best. The previous record, set by Satbir Singh of Punjab Police in 1994, stood at 79.68m.

Sachin surpassed it twice, first with a throw of 83.43m and then with an impressive 84.21m. He fouled on his other four attempts. Yadav was also remarkable in the qualifiers, where his best throw was 82.36 meters.
"I was aiming to cross 87-88 meters today. Unfortunately, four of my throws were fouls, but that's okay; I'll do better in the upcoming competitions," the 24-year-old told MyKhel exclusively after the finals.
Yadav has had a brilliant 2024 season. First, he won the gold medal at the Indian Grand Prix 3 in Bengaluru with a best throw of 82.69m. Then, he continued his impressive form at the National Open Athletics Championships, where he also won the silver medal with a best throw of 79.80m. This is his fourth competition this season.
He has yet to compete in any international events, with the upcoming Asian Championships and World Championships scheduled for next year. When asked about his qualifications in these competitions, he confidently stated, "My goal is to give my best and deliver 100% in every competition. However, I am satisfied with how this season has ended."
Today's performance moved Sachin to sixth on the list of India's all-time best javelin throwers. Leading the list is Paris Olympics silver medalist Neeraj Chopra (89.94m), followed by Asian Games silver medalist Kishore Jena (87.54m), Asian Championships medalist Shivpal Singh (86.23m), Davinder Kang (84.57m), and DP Manu (84.35m).
As Sachin continues to push his limits, it's clear that his journey is just beginning, and the best is yet to come for the promising javelin thrower.
