Allegations against Bhiwani coach may thwart his Dronacharya dreams

New Delhi, Aug 28 (UNI) Jagdish Singh, who was selected for the prestigious Dronacharya Award, may see his nomination in jeopardy, with allegations surfacing that a case has been registered against the Bhiwani coach under Section 302 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

An enquiry may also be conducted related to Jagdish's matter.

However, on receipt of the communication, the matter was examined by the Sports Ministry at highest level and a decision was taken to ask the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to enquire into the matter, as the coach concerned is attached to the SAI.

The SAI was also directed to contact the Senior Superintendent of Police of Bhiwani and ascertain the current status of the matter.

However, after examining the matter in detail and consultations with the Bhiwani SSP, SAI said, ''There is no case pending against the boxing coach and that he is not an accused in the matter connected with the unfortunate death of a trainee in SAI Training Centre, Bhiwani.'' ''A challan has already been filed in the court against the accused. The concerned police authorities have not filed any charges against Jagdish,'' the SAI added.
