Singapore, March 28: After taking a break from fighting to focus on motherhood, ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues overcame the herculean task of defending her belt against a dangerous American striker.
The stoic Brazilian proved she was ready when she met ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Interim Muay Thai World Champ Janet "JT" Todd in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 8 last Saturday, 25 March.

Rodrigues' return was a highly anticipated moment following her first steps into motherhood as well as the unfortunate cancellation of their scheduled matchup last December.
Despite all the odds and the glaring number of variables between the two strikers, Rodrigues managed to retain her crown after five hard rounds with Todd, picking up a unanimous decision.
The momentous occasion itself meant more than just winning to Rodrigues. After all, she was inspired by ONE Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee, who also successfully returned to fighting after motherhood.
"It is hard to come back from that situation, and I am inspired by Angela Lee," the 24-year-old said.
"I saw the way she came back and how she kept the belt with her. I wanted to do the same and inspire people the way Angela inspired me."
Having successfully defended her ONE Atomweight Muay Thai crown against kickboxing royalty, the Brazilian now plans to keep her revival surging with a venture into kickboxing.
Rodrigues wants new challenges and the kickboxing division could open up a world of possibilities. While most of the tests will be new, a familiar foe in Stamp Fairtex is a name that sits high upon her list, especially after the former two-sport world champion called her out.
"It will be a new challenge for me, and I want a new challenge," Rodrigues said. "I promise I'm going to show a better version of myself this time. "Stamp called [me] out. I'm going to be there. Just tell us the day and the time."
