Jack Doohan Departure Confirmed As Alpine Parts Ways Ahead Of 2026 F1 Season

BWT Alpine Formula One Team has mutually agreed to part with Jack Doohan ahead of the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship, allowing him to pursue other opportunities. Doohan debuted in 2024 and was replaced by Franco Colapinto, who remains with the squad for 2026 alongside Pierre Gasly.

Jack Doohan and Alpine have officially ended their association, with the Renault-owned Formula One team confirming the split ahead of the 2026 season. The move follows Doohan’s brief race stint in 2024 and comes as Alpine prepares for another campaign after finishing last in the Constructors’ Championship.

BWT Alpine Formula One Team confirms it has reached a mutual agreement with Jack Doohan to not continue his driving services with the team for the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship season and allow him to pursue other career opportunities, the team said in a statement.

Doohan leaves Alpine for 2026 F1
The team highlighted Doohan’s status as the first Alpine Academy driver to secure a race seat with Alpine’s Formula One outfit and confirmed the decision was made by mutual agreement to let Doohan explore other options away from the 2026 grid.

Doohan stepped into Formula One earlier than expected at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, replacing Esteban Ocon for the season-ending race. Doohan qualified 20th on debut and finished 15th, lining up alongside Pierre Gasly as team-mate as Alpine reshaped its driver pairing for the following year.

The Australian, then 22, started the new campaign with Alpine but completed only six races before being replaced. Across that spell, Doohan recorded two retirements, with a best result of 13th at the Chinese Grand Prix, before being moved into a reserve driver role when Franco Colapinto was promoted.

Jack Doohan Alpine context and team performance

Colapinto, who replaced Doohan after those six races, did not score any points in 18 starts but has been retained by Alpine for the 2026 Formula One season, which is scheduled to begin at the Australian Grand Prix in early March, with the team seeking stability after a difficult year.

Alpine’s wider performance framed the driver decisions, as the team finished bottom of the 2025 Constructors’ Championship with 22 points from 24 races, ending 48 points adrift of the next team, and the departure of Doohan closes a four-year spell with Alpine that covered junior duties, an academy role and a brief run as a full-time Formula One driver.
