Aman Dev, Mausam Suhag Shine for India at World Boxing U-19 Championships in Montenegro

India's Aman Dev continued his impressive run at the 2026 World Boxing U-19 Championships with a commanding victory over Serbia's Pavle Popovic to secure a place in the men's 50kg quarter-finals in Budva, Montenegro.

The Indian boxer delivered a composed and dominant performance, underlining his growing confidence as he moves closer to a potential medal finish.

Aman controlled proceedings throughout the three-round contest against Popovic, earning a unanimous 5:0 decision from the judges. His clinical display ensured a comfortable passage into the last eight, where he will face Georgia's Shalva Beridze in his next bout. The upcoming contest will be another important test as the Indian looks to continue his progress in the tournament.

Meanwhile, fellow Indian boxer Mausam Suhag also enjoyed success on the day, defeating Italy's Giuseppe Cavallo by a unanimous 5:0 verdict in the men's 65kg category. The victory secured Mausam's place in the round of 16, where he will take on Turkey's Mehmet Enes Sanli. A win in that encounter would earn him a quarter-final berth.

However, it was a disappointing outing for Shivam in the men's 60kg category. The Indian suffered a defeat against Serbia's Nikola Bogatinoski, who secured victory by RSC (Referee Stops Contest) late on Sunday evening.

With Aman advancing to the quarter-finals and Mausam continuing his campaign, India will look to build further momentum at the prestigious youth boxing championship.
