Khan: Lo Greco comments will make me more motivated

London, January 31: Amir Khan has vowed that a heated media conference with Phil Lo Greco will only make him more motivated in their April 21 bout.

The British fighter is returning to the ring at the Echo Arena in Liverpool for the first time since his 2016 defeat to Canelo Alvarez against Lo Greco.

Their meeting in front of the media proved a tempestuous one, with the former unified light welterweight champion Khan throwing water over the Canadian following comments made about his wife and family.

That resulted in a scuffle eventually brought to a halt by security men after undercard fighters Sean Dodd and Tommy Coyle - who were dressed as Batman and Superman - had also attempted to separate the pair.

Later speaking to Omnisport, Khan said: "I'm very respectful in press conferences and you always see a lot of love and respect between the fighters.

"I just think Lo Greco came today with some disrespectful stuff and the things he was saying were wrong.

"Going into personal lives and talking about families – you shouldn't do that and I think I kind of put a stop on him. I said, 'Listen, mate, it doesn't go like this'.

"At the end of the day, talk about the boxing. Talk about me getting knocked out, talk about how he's going to beat me and how he's going to train hard for this fight.

"Why talk about that [Khan's private life] first or talk about anything like that. I just think it's very disrespectful and it'll give me more motivation to go in the ring on April 21 in Liverpool and put a good performance in.

"He's going to be falling on my big shots all the time. He's going to come running on to them. The biggest mistake [he could make] is changing his tactics."
