Anantjeet Singh Naruka: All You Need to Know About His Background, Career, Family, Personal Life

Anantjeet Singh Naruka is an Indian skeet shooter who has qualified for two events at the Paris 2024 Olympics: the individual men's skeet and the mixed team skeet. The qualification for the men’s individual skeet event will take place on August 2 and August 3, with the final scheduled for August 3.

The qualification and final for the mixed team skeet event is scheduled for August 5. Anantjeet will team up with Maheshwari Chauhan for the mixed team skeet event.

Early Life and Education

Anantjeet was born on July 1, 1998, in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Naruka hails from the royal family of Uniara located in the Tonk district of Rajasthan. From a young age, his father Dalpat Singh Naruka has served as his personal coach. During his childhood, Anant would often accompany his father to the Jagatpura shooting range where he learned various shooting techniques. For his training, Anant and his father would make a daily journey of 130 km to the Oases shooting range in Jaipur.

Shooting Career

Anantjeet began his shooting career in 2012 and entered local competitions the following year in 2013. In 2014, he competed in the Asian Shotgun Championship held in Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates. The following year, in 2015, he participated in the 59th National Shooting Championship (Shotgun) in Jaipur, Rajasthan, where he triumphed over two national champions, Man Singh and Mairaj Ahmed Khan.

In the same year, Anantjeet scored 110 and 12 in the Junior men's skeet category at the 7th International Junior Shotgun Cup held in Orimattila, Finland. During the team event, Anantjeet, Angadvir Bajwa, and Arjun Mann represented India, achieving scores of 110, 119, and 102 respectively. In 2015, Anantjeet also participated in the 2nd ISSF Junior Cup tournament in Suhl, Germany. Later, in 2018, he competed in the ISSF Junior World Cup in Sydney, Australia, where he teamed up with Ayush Rudraraju and Gurnihal Singh Garcha in the skeet team event. Together they scored a total of 348 points, securing third place and winning the bronze medal.

In 2021, Anantjeet Singh Naruka took part in the 64th National Shooting Championship Competition held in Patiala, Punjab, where he achieved the highest qualification score among all participants. In 2022, Anantjeet Singh Naruka competed in the 66th National Shooting Championship Competition held in New Delhi, where he achieved an impressive overall score of 123 out of 125. The following year, in 2023, he participated in the ISSF World Cup, finishing in 23rd place in the individual events at both the ISSF World Cup in Cairo and the ISSF World Cup in Almaty. In the Asian Games 2022 held in Hangzhou, China, Anantjeet achieved a score of 58 out of 60. In the team event, he teamed up with Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Gurjoat Khangura, collectively scoring 355 points, which earned them the bronze medal.
