Anatoly Malykhin Responds To Ben Tynan’s Call Out At ONE Fight Night 21

By Mike Joseph

Since defeating Reinier de Ridder this past March at ONE 166: Qatar, three-weight ONE MMA World Champion Anatoly Malykhin is at the top of the food chain, and he requires fresh meat for his future contests. Luckily, a loud contender has made himself known.

Heavyweight rising star Ben Tynan earned his second consecutive win in ONE Championship this past Saturday, 6 April, at ONE Fight Night 21 inside Bangkok, Thailand's iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

The Canadian knocked out Duke Didier to take his winning streak to 6-0 - with all victories coming by stoppage. Afterward, "Vanilla Thunder" took to the microphone to give Malykhin a piece of his mind.

"We've got a middleweight holding the belt at heavyweight, and that ain't cool. I'm calling out Anatoly [Malykhin]. I'm coming for you, man. It may not be next, but I'm coming, brother," he said.

"He's a middleweight. There's not a middleweight on this planet that can beat me. I will whoop his a**."

Since arriving in ONE Championship, Tynan has undoubtedly captured attention with his charismatic nature. And that's also put him on Malykhin's radar. The three-weight king was there in person for ONE Fight Night 21 last weekend.

There, he saw Tynan's performance and heard his post-fight callout for himself. While other athletes have put themselves in Malykhin's bad book, the Russian rouser is happy to see another heavyweight contender on the rise.

But in order for the anticipated clash to happen, Tynan must keep winning. And Malykhin views American soil as the perfect place to throw down with his new heavyweight foe.

"I'm glad to see some new faces in ONE. A strong opposition is exactly what I need. I'm happy there are guys who are not only good in the ring, but also develop their own style outside of it. They definitely bring something unique," Malykhin said.

"I'm looking forward to sharing the ring with him. I think America sounds like the perfect place to really put him to the test."
