Anjum Moudgil is a distinguished Indian shooter who will compete in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She was born on January 5, 1995, in Chandigarh, Punjab.
Anjum was born to Sudershan Moudgill and Shubh Moudgill. Her father is a lawyer while her mother is a former university-level shooter. Shubh introduced Anjum to the sport of shooting at a young age.

Anjum began her shooting career at Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School in Chandigarh. She later graduated and pursued her post-graduation in humanities from DAV College, Chandigarh. Additionally, she earned a Master's degree in sports psychology.
Anjum is a skilled painter and artist. Some of her artworks have been showcased at a well-known shooters' club in Chandigarh. She offers her artwork for sale on Instagram.
Anjum first ventured into shooting when she joined the NCC Cadets as her mother encouraged her to participate in the program to enhance her overall personality. While at the NCC, Anjum gained access to shooting equipment and chose to pursue the sport.
She received foundational shooting lessons from her NCC Unit Commander Colonel Chauhan. Initially lacking personal training, she learned the skills of shooting from her seniors within the NCC.
In 2010, Anjum successfully secured a spot on the Indian junior team. During the early stages of her career, she relied on borrowing a rifle from the NCC as she did not own one.
It wasn't until 2014 that she received her first personal training from coach Deepali Deshpande following a period of struggling with back injuries and inconsistent performances.
Anjum earned a silver medal in the women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) event at the ISSF World Cup held in Mexico in 2018. During the Commonwealth Games (CWG), she also claimed a silver medal finishing with a total score of 455.7 points which included 151.9 points in the kneeling position and 157.1 points in the prone position.
In the qualification round, she set a new CWG qualifying record by a considerable margin achieving a score of 589 with breakdowns of 196 in kneeling, 199 in prone, and 194 in standing.
On May 1, 2019, Anjum Moudgil achieved the world number 2 ranking in the women's 10m Air Rifle ISSF rankings. Additionally, she held the top position as India's No. 1 in the Women’s 50m 3 Positions (3P) event.
She was awarded the Arjuna Award, the second-highest sporting honor in India, in 2019.
