Ankur Bhattacharjee Edges Raegan Albuquerque in Seven-Game Thriller

Ankur Bhattacharjee produced a resilient performance to defeat Maharashtra's Raegan Albuquerque 4-3 and capture the men's singles title at the second National Ranking Table Tennis Championships in Panchkula. The competition was held at the Tau Devi Lal Indoor Hall, where the Haryana paddler overcame a determined challenge to secure his first title of the season.

Ankur had to dig deep after Raegan recovered from an opening-game defeat to establish a 2-1 advantage. The two players exchanged games in a closely contested final, showcasing their attacking quality, precise placements and ability to sustain long rallies.

With the championship hanging in the balance, Ankur raised his level in the deciding game to complete an 11-5 victory and seal the title. His triumph also marked a turnaround after he exited the Kanpur leg in the semifinals following a defeat to Manav Thakkar.

Ankur had earlier booked his place in the final by defeating Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) paddler Jeet Chandra 4-1. He edged a closely fought opening game 13-11 before Jeet responded to level the match. Ankur subsequently regained control, winning the next three games to progress.

Raegan, meanwhile, earned his place in the final with a 4-2 victory over second seed Manav Thakkar of PSPB. After the players traded games, Raegan won the pivotal fifth game 12-10 before carrying the momentum into the sixth to complete an impressive semifinal win.

Ankur had also registered a notable quarterfinal victory over top seed Manush Shah, winning in straight games. Jeet overcame Sanil Shetty 3-2, Raegan defeated Payas Jain by the same margin, and Manav beat Sourav Saha 3-1 to complete the men's singles semifinal lineup.

Diya Chitale Holds Off Syndrela Das Comeback

Diya Chitale of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) won the women's singles title after overcoming West Bengal teenager Syndrela Das 4-3 in another engrossing final.

Diya made an excellent start, winning the first three games to put herself in a commanding position. However, 17-year-old Syndrela refused to surrender, producing a spirited comeback to win the next three games and force a decider.

Syndrela's backhand play and willingness to take the initiative helped her turn the contest around. She capitalised on Diya's dip in form, combining aggressive shot-making with determination to level the match at 3-3.

Diya, however, kept her composure when it mattered most. She edged the deciding game 11-9 to secure the championship after a demanding seven-game battle.

Syndrela had earlier survived an equally challenging semifinal against Sutirtha Mukherjee of RSPB. After losing the opening two games, the West Bengal paddler responded by winning three consecutive games to take the lead. Sutirtha forced a decider by claiming the sixth game, but Syndrela held her nerve to win 4-3.

Diya advanced to the final with a 4-1 victory over Swastika Ghosh of PSPB. Despite dropping the second game, she maintained control to complete the win in five games.

In the women's quarterfinals, Syndrela defeated Maharashtra's Ananya Chande 3-1, while Sutirtha beat Yashini Sivashankar of Tamil Nadu 3-0. Diya overcame Divyanshi Bhowmick 3-0, and Swastika edged Ananya Muralidharan 3-2.

Priyanuj Bhattacharyya Wins U-19 Boys' Singles Title

Priyanuj Bhattacharyya of RSPB captured the U-19 boys' singles crown with a 4-0 victory over Tamil Nadu's P.B. Abhinand in the final.

Priyanuj established an early advantage by winning the opening two games. Abhinand put up a fight in the third, but Priyanuj held his nerve to take the game 13-11 before closing out the contest with an 11-9 win in the fourth.

The Railways paddler had earlier recovered from an opening-game setback to defeat West Bengal's Punit Biswas 3-1 in the semifinals. Abhinand also advanced with a 3-1 victory over Odisha's Sarthak Arya, overcoming a late challenge in the fourth game.

Divyanshi Bhowmick Claims U-19 Girls' Singles Crown

Maharashtra's Divyanshi Bhowmick secured the U-19 girls' singles title with a 4-0 win over West Bengal's Syndrela Das.

Divyanshi made a strong start, taking the first two games 11-8 and following them with an 11-9 victory in the third. She maintained her advantage in the fourth game, winning 11-9 to complete a composed performance and claim the championship.

Syndrela, who had also reached the women's singles final, defeated Tamil Nadu's Ananya Muralidharan 3-1 in the semifinals. Divyanshi had a tougher route to the final, overcoming M. Hansini of Tamil Nadu 3-2 in a five-game encounter.

After winning the opening two games, Divyanshi saw Hansini fight back to level the match. The Maharashtra paddler recovered in the deciding game, winning 13-11 to book her place in the final.

The Panchkula championships featured closely contested matches across the senior and under-19 categories, with Ankur, Diya, Priyanuj and Divyanshi emerging as the respective singles champions.
