Anna University recover to beat Punjabi

Kannur, Nov 20 (UNI) Anna University, Chennai beat Punjabi University, Pattiala by 3-2 in the inaugural pool league-cum knock out matches of the All India Inter university volleyball for women, here today.

Anna defeated Punjabi by 20-25,12-25,25-12,25-7,15-8. Punjabi won the first two sets but caved in Anna players excelled in drop shots and floating services of Geetha and Karthika and the powerful smashes of Sayoo Vijayam.

In the second match, defending champions and hosts Kannur University beat Kurukshethra university in straight sets 25-11,25-12,25-11. International and captain Minimol Abraham's all round performance, V Soumya's services and Aleena Zachrias telling smashes resulted in an easy win for Kannur university.
