Anshul Kapoor helps BSNL consolidates

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) Former India U-19 probable Anshul Kapoor missed his maiden century of career narrowly but helped his team, BSNL consolidate, its position against Hyderabad Combined Districts Eleven in the All India Moin-Ud -Dowla Gold cup cricket tournament here today.

After rain washed first day's play, BSNL after put in to bat made 357 all out in 87.2 overs in their first innings.

The right hand batsman who hit 65 and 45 in his two previous visits to Moin-Ud-Dowla gold cup tournament joined Sumit Sharma at the fall of first wicket with score reading 27 in 7.1 overs. He was out as fourth wicket at 204 in 61.3 overs, in the process he added 183 runs in the company of Sumit Sharma (19), Niranjan Mehra (45, in 113 balls with 2x4) and BS Tomer (24).

In his stay of 200 minutes, Anshul faced 166 balls hit seven boundaries and one sixer before he was caught on second attempt by Madhu off Dinesh, when he tried to cut the bowler uppishly. Mahapatra (50 with 3x4, 3x6) was the other chief scorer for BSNL. Among Combined districts bowlers Sudheer (3 /58), Naresh (2/50) , Dinesh (2/53) and Sarvesh (2/80) bowled well.

In another match at NFC grounds, half centuries from Jatin Saxena (64 in 125 balls with 8x4), Jubin John (57, 2x4) and Jalaj Saxena (58, 3x4, 2x6) helped Madhya Pradesh recover to post a respectable total of 275 all out in 89.5 overs against Goa. Saurav Bandekar took 4 for 69, while Harshanand Gaonkar took 3 for 51.

At Railway Recreation Club grounds, put in to bat Railways were all out for a paltry 99 in just 33.2 overs. Sanjin Sanyal (33, 6x4) and Avik Malik (16, 1x4) were chief scores for Railways. Among IOCL Anand Rajan took 3 for 26, while Shivansh Sharma took 4 for 12.

Later IOCL made 14 with out losing a wicket.
