The Minnesota Timberwolves faced a tough defeat in the Western Conference finals, losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder secured their victory with a decisive 124-94 win in Game Five. This marks the second consecutive year the Timberwolves have fallen at this stage, having lost to the Dallas Mavericks in 2024.
Anthony Edwards, a key player for the Timberwolves, struggled to reach his usual performance levels during the series. He scored fewer than 20 points in three out of five games against the Thunder, significantly below his regular-season average of 27.6 points. In Game Five, he managed 19 points from 18 shots.

Despite the setback, Edwards is determined to improve and push further next season. He has vowed to work harder than any other NBA player during the offseason. "I'm going to work my butt off this summer," Edwards stated. "Nobody's going to work harder than me this summer. I'll tell you that much."
Reflecting on their performance, Edwards acknowledged Oklahoma City's superiority in the series. "They [OKC] were the better team," he admitted. "They came out and beat us, punched us in the face, and we lost the game, we lost the series." His teammate Julius Randle shared a similar sentiment after their heavy loss.
Randle expressed his belief that the team is capable of more than they demonstrated against OKC. "I feel like we're a better team than what we showed," Randle remarked. He sees this defeat as a driving force for improvement as they prepare for next season.
The Timberwolves are now focused on using this experience as motivation for future success. Both Edwards and Randle are committed to working hard over the summer to ensure they come back stronger next season.
