Anthony Edwards Returns After Injury, Scores 17 In 23 Minutes As Timberwolves Beat Mavericks

The Minnesota Timberwolves eased past the Dallas Mavericks 124-94, as Anthony Edwards made a lively return from injury and lifted the mood. Edwards played limited minutes after six games out, yet the guard still changed the game’s energy.

Edwards had been sidelined with a right knee problem and came back with 17 points in 23 minutes, while Minnesota moved to 49-29 this season. The All-Star has averaged a career-high 29.5 points per game during this campaign.

Head coach Chris Finch welcomed the way Edwards settled into the contest after the layoff and pointed to strong work without the ball. "Ant was awesome, man," Finch said. "His defense was outstanding, and he just let the game come to him. He stayed aggressive, made quicker decisions, and things looked kind of easy for him as a result."

The scoring load against Dallas was shared across the Minnesota Timberwolves lineup, with Julius Randle leading all players on 24 points. Ayo Dosunmu added 18, Donte DiVincenzo scored 15 and Rudy Gobert contributed 14, as the hosts controlled the game at both ends.

Edwards described the frustration of watching from the bench during the recent stretch and the joy of finally playing again. Asked about the feeling of being back, Edwards replied: "Like a kid in a candy store! I was miserable sitting out."

The Minnesota Timberwolves crowd saw Edwards introduced with the starters, but the guard did not line up for the opening tip. The 24-year-old needed a late trip to the toilet, so Mike Conley stepped in to start instead. Reflecting on the moment, Edwards joked: "Mike had my back!"

The Minnesota Timberwolves now look toward their next fixture against the Detroit Pistons on Thursday, when Edwards is expected to see more time. With the team closing on the playoffs and the record improving, Finch and the staff gain another important option.
