Anu, Ciny selected for Olympic selection training camp

Kannur, Jan 28 (UNI) Anu Mariyam Jose, a plus two student in Government Vocational Higher Secondary School here and Ciny Jose of Kottayam district are selected for three month selection training camp to be held in South Africa, aimed at Beijing Olympics in 2008.

She would leave for the camp on February five along with other selected candidates from Delhi.

Anu was selected on the basis of her performance in the 400m and 800m race in the last Junior Asian Games in Beijing, said Princial C H Valsalan.

She had set a new school meet record in 800m race in the 2005 school meet, eclipsing the 15-year-old record of Beenamol.

She was also a member of the 4x400m relay team which won the bronze in the China World Youth Game.
