Anup to train under Marten Frost before Dutch Open
Bangalore, Aug 24 (UNI) India's new badminton star Anup Sridhar will train under former World Number One Marten Frost Hansen in Denmark before playing in the Dutch and the French Open championships next month.
Talks are under progress with Frost by Tata Padukone Academy to send the national champion for a three-week training in September, Anup told UNI here today.
''I may be going to Denmark for a three-week training under Marten Frost before participating in the Dutch Open and French Open.
However, at present I am concentrating on the forthcoming Grand Prix Gold Championship to be held in Hyderabad from September 5 to 9, Anup said.
Earlier, the 24-year-old shuttler was felicitated by Karnataka Badminton Association (KBA) for his sterling performance in the world championship at Kuala Lampur which earned him his carrer best ranking of 29, the highest by any Indian men's singles player.
KBA President Madappa presented a Cheque for Rs 25,000 for his brilliant performance in the world championship.
Academy Executive Director and former National Coach Vimal Kumar complementing Anup, said ''he has the calibre to climb higher and his performance would inspire upcoming shuttlers.
''Anup has done well and definetely he has great future'', he added.
Replying to the felicitation, Anup said ''though I was ousted in the quarterfinals at Kaula Lampur, I was satisified with my performance and hope to do better in future tournaments.'' UNI
