Anuradha to participate in Ironman Triathlon event in China

By Staff

Bangalore, Apr 16 (UNI) Karnataka's Anuradha Vydyanathan, who is eyeing a 2012 London Olympics berth, will participate in Ironman Triathlon Meet to be held in Haiko, China on April 20.

The 27 year-old Bangalorean has already participated in various international competitions, including the Ironman norm in New Zealand on March 1 this year.

Triathlon comprises a 3.8 Km swim, 180 Km bicycle race and 42.4 Km run.

''I have trained extensively'', Anuradha said, adding sponsors should come forward to support her.

A computer engineer and CEO of 'Patnmarks', a patent consultancy firm, Anuradha was the first Indian to participate in the Ironman Triathlon International event and the first Indian to qualify for the Half Marathon Triathlon World Championship to be held in Florida in November 2008.

Anuradha was supported by Wildcraft for the China event by paying the entry fee.

She said since there were other expenses to be met, she was appealing to the Karnataka government and other agencies to support her financially.
