APGC Junior Championship 2025: Under heavy skies and tricky greens at the Hong Kong Golf Club, India's young golf talents braved the elements and held their nerve to finish respectably in the prestigious Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championship.
The boys' team duo of Ranveer Mitroo and Krish Chawla delivered a commendable fifth-place finish with a combined total of four-over 430, while Saanvi Somu and Kashika S battled through illness and inclement weather to claim eighth place in the girls' team event, finishing at 16-over 448.

Amid challenging, rainy conditions that saw several players struggle for consistency, Delhi's 16-year-old Ranveer Mitroo rose to the occasion once more. He carded a steady two-over 73 in the final round to close his campaign at two-under 211, securing a sixth-place finish in the individual standings - the best among the Indian contingent. His teammate, Krish Chawla, wrapped up his tournament with a total of six-over 219, placing 22nd individually.
The boys' team crown was clinched by China's Jin Heng Yan and Jin Han, who emerged victorious with a combined four-under 422, showcasing consistency throughout the three rounds. New Zealand's Cooper Moore shone in the boys' individual event, taking top honours with a brilliant nine-under 204, edging out Vietnam's Tuan Anh Nguyen by two strokes.
Speaking after the event, a reflective Ranveer called the APGC Junior Championship an "invaluable learning experience."
"Competing in a field like the APGC Juniors has given me a significant confidence boost. Being surrounded by talented players and experiencing the competitive atmosphere has motivated me to push my limits," he said.
"I realised that I can hold my own against strong competitors, which has reinforced my belief in my abilities. The support from the Indian Golf Union has been instrumental in my development as a golfer."
In the girls' competition, Saanvi Somu turned in a solid two-over 74 in her final round to secure a 10th-place finish in the individual standings - a strong performance in trying conditions. Her teammate Kashika S, still not fully recovered from illness, showed admirable resilience to return a three-over 75, improving her position to 19th overall.
In the mixed team event, the Indian pair of Krish and Saanvi combined for an 11-over 437, ending their campaign in 13th place.
While India's young golfers may not have finished on the podium, their performances, poise, and perseverance have sent a clear signal - the next generation is ready to compete on the international stage. With exposure to tough conditions and elite competition, the APGC Junior Championship served as a crucial stepping stone in their blossoming careers.
