Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey, has recently named a baby blue penguin after Saquon Barkley, the Philadelphia Eagles running back. The penguin shares a birthday with Barkley, as both were born on February 9, making the naming choice a natural and heartwarming connection. This special event took place on Super Bowl Sunday, February 9, 2025, which also marked the Eagles’ thrilling Super Bowl victory.

The baby penguin, affectionately named Saquon, was hatched to parents Sheila and Spud. This marks the fifth successful hatching for the couple at Adventure Aquarium. For now, Saquon the penguin is staying behind the scenes. At just over a week old, the chick is being carefully nurtured and is learning essential survival skills, such as how to swim, eat, and fish. This behind-the-scenes phase will last for another month or so, as Saquon grows and matures. Once fully ready, the penguin will be introduced to the public at the aquarium’s Penguin Park, where guests will be able to meet the new member of the colony.
