Archer siblings annexe top slot in national ranking archery meet
Jamshedpur, Aug 19 (UNI) World cup gold medalist Dola Banerjee and her younger brother Rahul Banerjee annexed top slots in the women's and men's recurve events respectively on the final day of the fourth Tata Steel Naitonal Ranking Archery Championship at the J R D Tata sports complex here today.
Maintaining her form, Railway's Dola hit bull's eye with precision to earn top spot with 2631 points in the women's recurve. Chakerovalu Swuro (MCT) bagged the second place with 2570 points and Bombayla Devi) was third with 2560 points.
In the men's recurve, Jharkhand's archer Rahul Banerjee who was relegated to third spot yesterday, bounced back to the top with 2666 points while Mangal Singh of Railways scored 2663 points to secure the second place and former world No 4 Jayanta Talukdar, who was on second spot yesterday, finished on third position with 2662 points.
Jharkhand archers proved their superiority in the women's compound event as world record holder Jhanu Hansda (2714 points), Bhegyabati Chanu (2654) and Manjudha Soy (2621) captured first, second and third spots respectively.
In the men's compound section, Andhra Pradesh's Isiah R Sunam maintained his form throughout the meet and bagged 2705 points to claim the top spot, while L Haridas of Services became second with 2681 points and Ratan Kumar was third with 2681 points.
